Visitation is simply the number of days and overnights the non custodial parent has with their child. The standard schedule is every other weekend from Friday to Sunday, alternating holidays, and two weeks in the summer. Since the child support obligations can be affected by the number of over night visits many parents find themselves in visitation/custody battles where one party is seeking more over nights and the other is seeking less over nights. The magic number of over nights that will change the child support obligation is 128. Normally you can reach the 128 mark with Friday to Monday morning every other week and one over night per week between Monday and Thursday. Generally to get to this level you have to demonstrate an ability to communicate with your spouse and that the visitation is in the child's best interest.
